I was officially "called" by the Community Church of Chapel Hill UU with a nearly 99% positive vote. It was a very full 8 days of constant talking and questioning and dialoguing and sermonizing with no real time off, so I am quite (happily) exhausted and sound almost as hoarse as Hillary Clinton. But I wanted to let you know. Needless to say it was an exceptionally exciting time to be in North Carolina. Barack Obama spoke at UNC last Monday night - a mere half mile from the church, but I had my own candidating to do so I had to miss it. I will catch up on my emails tomorrow, for now I need a day off! Faithfully, Maj-Britt -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... What is a "meme"? How is it different from a gene? . What is the latest scientific thinking on these subjects? . How does this relate to the broader subject of human spirituality? We need hundreds of people to carry the banners. The demonstration will be videoed by a filmmaker who will post the demonstration on youtube and will make it available to blogs, cable programs, etc. since the media has neglected the anti-war movement. Joan Mokray arranged for us to be able to park at Foster Village. Nancy Nygard arranged for us to be able to drop off food and baby supplies at the Family Assistance Center at the armory during the demonstration. Besides helping organize people to come or writing letters to the newspapers, these are way you can help: . We have to add 30 new banners with names of US troops and Iraqi people killed in the occupation since last May. We have 24 left to complete. Each 20 foot banner has the names of 20 troops and about the same number of Iraqi people. We urgently need your help with this. Please. I have the supplies at my house at 625 Linden Avenue in Teaneck and will have them at the vigil next Wednesday. While you may want to work on the banners at home, it's also quite meaningful if you do them with a group of people - friends, family, other students, a religious or community group... We need the completed banners back by May 21. . Post flyers in stores, at libraries, or on the street. . Hand out flyers at Pathmark in Bergenfield, Stop and Shop, the Post Office, Walgreens on Teaneck Road, or at events in Bergen County. I am looking for someone to work with on this during this weekend and next weekend. I have copies of the flyers here or we will have more at the vigil. . We need a few people to help hand out flyers at the table on Cedar Lane and Chestnut any time from 12 noon to 5:00 pm on May 26, Memorial Day. . Jules Orkin needs to find someone who will help set up the American Friends Service Committee exhibit called COST of WAR on May 28. Jules will pick it up and return it but needs someone to set it up, as he will be out of town that day. Contact Jules at jules.orkin at verizon.net. Jules' daughter will be bringing most of the banners to the demonstration, but there are so many names of war dead that the banners won't all fit in his van. We need someone who will pick up the remaining banners from my home in a van any time after May 22 and then either take them to Richie's house in Montclair or my house any time after the demonstration, but it's not necessary for that to be done before the end of the month. Please e-mail or call me if you can help. Thanks. Peace NOW! Paula 201 248 3169 cell or 201 836 5834 home 2nd Annual Memorial Week Demonstration Honor the War Dead By Demanding All Troops Home NOW!
